From the Desk of Vincent & Cedar 🐐

Sanctuary Supervisors, Lunch Inspectors & Newly Discovered Celebrities

What a few days it has been at Art, Heart & Hoofbeats Sanctuary!

First, Saturday Anne , Allison and Chris headed off to Carver County Pride, where they met so many wonderful people. We hope we'll be seeing some of those new friends out at the sanctuary soon.

We goats stayed behind to manage operations. Obviously.

Then came Weidner Cares Day at AHHS. WOW.

More than 70 people from Weidner Apartment Homes arrived at the sanctuary, and we have to say—they were a ton of fun, and they worked incredibly hard.

They installed an automatic watering system for the horses, cleaned and organized the barn, built a movable lean-to, replaced posts, and made improvements throughout the sanctuary that will make life better for both our animals and the people who visit us. And they didn't forget about the goats!

Our summer home and goat pasture received quite the makeover—a fresh coat of paint, a new pagoda, a special place for Dolly, our concrete goat sculpture, and new additions throughout our space. They reconnected our bridge and added safety features, too.

Everything is clean, fresh and looking pretty fabulous.

Naturally, we personally inspected and tried out every single improvement.

GOAT APPROVED. āœ“

The Weidner team also built a beautiful new bridge wide enough for our HeArt Cart, complete with railings that look like rainbows. Everywhere we looked, something had been cleaned, repaired, painted, built, organized or

made safer.Of course, we took our management responsibilities very seriously.

We spent the day following crews, supervising construction, checking everyone's progress and sharing lunch with the tradespeople. We prefer to call this hands-on leadership and relationship building.

After successfully managing more than 70 humans, Vincent is beginning to think ordinary goat walks may be beneath his new professional qualifications. A management name tag seems much more appropriate.

And then there were the videos...Nugget and Timothy Honey Bunny were absolutely convinced they had been hired as the stars. As soon as filming began, they started rearranging their apartment and doing everything

possible to get everyone's attention. We heard the director had to say ā€œCUT!ā€Ā more than once. Amateurs.

By the end of the day, though, what struck us most wasn't just how much had been accomplished. It was the incredible amount of care behind it.

More than 70 people gave their time, talents, energy and hard work to make AHHS a better place. They laughed with us, worked beside us and accomplished things that would have taken our little sanctuary months to do on our own. It felt like the entire Weidner team wrapped Art, Heart & Hoofbeats Sanctuary in one enormous hug.

Every person who crosses one of those bridges, visits the animals, creates art, explores the sanctuary, or simply

finds a quiet place to breathe will experience a little piece of what the Weidner team left behind. We know everyone who visits will feel the love.

To everyone at Weidner who made this incredible day possible: thank you.Ā Thank you for showing up, working so hard, laughing with us, caring about our animals and believing in what happens here. Your generosity will be part of AHHS for a very long time.

With tremendous appreciation—and our newly acquired celebrity status,

Vincent & Cedar 🐐🐐Sanctuary Supervisors, Lunch Inspectors & Very Important Goats

P.S.Ā We would like it officially documented that the humans worked harder because of our exceptional leadership. Anne may have a different version of events. We recommend trusting the goats.

It was an amazing day giving back to the community, but my time at the Sanctuary gave me a little different perspective. It reminded me of the importance of stepping away from the everyday routine and hustle and bustle of the city—to slow down, spend time in nature, care for animals, and connect and socialize with others.

Sometimes, taking a moment to pause, breathe, and reconnect with the world around us is exactly what we need.
