What is Your Why? And How Does It Lead You?
Everyone at AHH has been busy. We’re revamping our website, keeping horses healthy, making sure the peacocks and chickens stay warm, and, of course, playing with the goats. The cold weather slows everything down to a snail’s pace. The constant shifts in temperature change food needs, wreak havoc on water systems, and keep us on our toes. Some days, it’s the bitter cold that freezes the water buckets; other days, it’s Jakers getting a little too playful, knocking out the water heater with an enthusiastic kick. We had to get more hay to keep the herd warm and comfy. And this winter, we even welcomed a couple of incredibly loving new goats to the mix.
But why?
Why do we do it? Why do we wake up early, bundle up, and trudge through the snow to care for them? Why does AHH exist at all?
Because love is a choice.
Love is showing up. It’s feeding a horse that once flinched at human touch. It’s making sure the goats have a warm place to snuggle. It’s fixing a water line, even when your fingers are frozen, because every being here matters. Love isn’t always grand gestures; sometimes, it’s just consistency—being there, day after day, proving through action that these lives have worth.
At AHH, love isn’t just about the animals—it’s about people, too. We go the extra mile because we all need connection. In a world that can feel isolating, where struggles are often silent, being part of something bigger—something that gives love without question—matters. People don’t just come to AHH for the horses; they come for the feeling of belonging, for the quiet healing that happens in a barn, for the reminder that love, in all its forms, is what keeps us going.
Is Your WHY Still the Right Fit?
Today might be a good day to pause. To reflect. To look at your WHY—not with judgment, but with curiosity.
Does it still fit?Does it bring you joy, or has it started to feel like suffering?
One thing we know at AHH is this: you are worth it.
Caring for yourself, caring for others—both can bring transformation. Sometimes, the greatest change comes from the smallest acts of love, whether it’s showing up for a horse who needs you, a friend who’s struggling, or yourself when you need rest.
So today, take a moment. Breathe. Reconnect with your WHY. And if it no longer serves you, have the courage to reshape it—because you deserve a life filled with purpose, connection, and love.
A Short Loving Meditation to Look Inward
Take a deep breath in… and slowly let it go.
Gently close your eyes. Let the noise of the world fade, just for a moment.
Place a hand over your heart. Feel its steady rhythm, a quiet reminder that you are here, you are alive, and you are enough.
Ask yourself, without judgment: What is my WHY? Does it bring me joy? Does it feel heavy?
Breathe in love. Breathe out doubt.
Know that you are worthy of love, of care, of rest. Whatever you carry, you do not have to carry it alone.
With your next breath, imagine warmth surrounding you—like the gentle nuzzle of a horse, the soft flicker of morning light, the quiet peace of belonging.
When you’re ready, open your eyes. Carry this feeling with you. You are loved. You are enough. You are home.
Breathe. Be. Begin again. 💛
"We look forward to bringing you more programming, connection, and love this year. May this be a year of growth, healing, and belonging—for you, for our herd, and for our community."
